My walk in life as an artist, wife, sister, daughter and follower of Christ.

Monthly Archives: June 2012

Getting started on my murals is the hardest thing… I keep thinking what if I get started and then I am unable to finish? Or what if it looks completely awful when it is finished?  And then my financial situation doesn’t help, I keep telling myself “my next paycheck I’ll go buy all the paint for it”, but of course something else comes up more important, like bills and wedding accessories.

Finally, though I put my foot down cleared my day and put my skills to practice!!! Its small about a 18×12, but it put my thoughts to ease that I can do this. I just need to make some time for myself and put some money aside!

This was my first forest painting, so overall I was very excited with the results 🙂

First of all this was my project for my sisters wedding, she wanted something different for her guests to sign. She found something like this as a poster online …was going to spend way to much on it and asked me to create it in a painting. These are the steps that it took for me to create what she wanted 🙂

Step One bought a $12 canvas that was 20X24, I then drew out the picture and decided which colors(Her wedding colors) would be needed and where they would be. Also it has around 220 leaves to sign.

Next, I painted the background a cool gray, I Decided on this since I knew the rest of it would be bright and a simple background helps pull out colors.

(On a personal note, i really liked the painting with just the background, another idea would be to have it stay gray and white with colorful signatures… 😉

Next I added the colors, I was consistently asking Heidi if she like the Blue, pink, and white before I painted everything.

Last I added a more personal touch at the request of the bride 🙂 first and middle initial- Heidi Jean + Micah David and wedding date of course 🙂

Over all it turned out well, guests enjoyed signing something different and now the new couple has something colorful to add to the wall of their new home 🙂 It was a long process, but well worth it to create something for such a priceless day!

Oh and on a quick note about the maid of honors speech…yes I cried ..mostly from the overwhelmingness of the day, and also, I got almost everyone else crying too hehe 😉 It was a wonderful day!
